Arizona Week

Arizona Public Media’s newest public affairs series ARIZONA WEEK, with host Michael Chihak, premieres on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 8:30 p.m. on PBS-HD.

Veteran newsman Michael Chihak will host the best journalists in the state each Friday, bringing depth and perspective to the top issues of the week. The program fills a unique niche of “going deep” on critical topics on the air, and even deeper with its on-line components.

The program will have both on-location and in-studio interviews with key newsmakers. The interviews will be followed by a panel of journalists who will provide analysis on the topic and how it relates to the Arizona audience.

Michael Chihak has a distinguished career in journalism, most recently as an independent media relations consultant. Prior to that, Chihak worked in the non-profit arena as the executive director of the Communications Leadership Institute and the SPIN Project, in San Francisco.

For the bulk of the last decade, Michael was the editor and publisher of the Tucson Citizen and held editorial positions at The Californian in Salinas, CA (1992-2000) and USA Today (1984-1992). He began his career at the Tucson Citizen in 1982.
