A gunman, currently in custody and identified as 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner, opened fire on U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and bystanders during a "Congress on Your Corner" public forum she was holding Saturday morning in northwest Tucson at the Safeway on Oracle and Ina.

Christopher Conover was on the scene shortly after the incident. He hosts this Arizona Public Media Special Report on the day's tragic event and chaotic aftermath.
