Learn about cutting edge research revealing some of the brain’s long kept secrets. Part 1, Thursday at 8:30 p.m. on PBS-HD.

What happens to the brain as it ages and how does it affect memory? Memory researcher, Dr. Lee Ryan looks at how aging and changes in the brain affect the ability to remember, and how these changes may or may not lead to developing Alzheimer’s disease.

Next, renowned neuroscientist Dr. Carol Barnes believes you can’t understand age related brain diseases until you understand what the normal aged brain looks like. Barnes’ research focuses on what should be occurring at age 60 or 70 as a benchmark to better understand the disease process.
