AMERICAN MASTERS "Troubadours: Carole King & James Taylor"
In the 1960s, a new style of song and songwriter came to the fore. Backed by little more than a lone acoustic guitar or simple piano, exciting voices descended upon Los Angeles, the emerging epicenter of the American music scene, and the famed West Hollywood club, the Troubadour, nurtured this community of gifted young artists.
Interweaving the story of the club that cemented their musical legacy, Troubadours is a first-hand account of the genesis of the singer-songwriter movement, centering on the historic collaboration between Carole King and James Taylor.

GREAT PERFORMANCES "Harry Connick, Jr. in Concert on Broadway"
Twenty years after dazzling audiences in his first solo Broadway concert early in his career, three-time Grammy Award-winner Harry Connick, Jr. returned to the Main Stage with a roster of favorites, performed in his trademark New Orleans style.
Featuring Connick’s big band and a 12-piece string section with Connick on both a Steinway grand and upright honky-tonk piano. Variety raved, “Connick, in concert, packs such dynamite that those ‘Jersey Boys’ across the street seem positively sedate.”
GREAT PERFORMANCES "Harry Connick, Jr." Wednesday at 9 p.m. on PBS-HD.
