Jonathan Overpeck, director of the UA Institute for the Study of Planet Earth, discusses global warming.

Climate scientists have worked long and hard to reveal the facts behind an inconvenient truth, and Jonathan Overpeck leads the parade. Overpeck, the co-director of the University of Arizona's Institute of the Environment, says global warming is real and our region demonstrates its effects.

He joins the Arizona Illustrated studio to talk about climate change's impact on the Southwest and internationally, his work to engage his colleagues in what's happening on the international stage, and his institute's efforts to recruit new scientists, who he expects will generate a new economy.
