The prevalence of both Type I and Type II diabetes is on the rise, afflicting over 20 million people nationwide. Among Southern Arizona's Latino and Native American communities, the problem is especially pronounced.
To educate the community about diabetes, two Arizona health experts and educators have organized a first-ever forum on the disease. Betsy Dokken, assistant professor of medicine at the University of Arizona, and Jonathan Insel, a physician and Fellow of the American College of Clinical Endocrinologists, will join a panel of other clinicians to share the latest on diabetes prevention and management.
The forum takes place Saturday, April 2, at the Tucson Convention Center.
