SECRETS OF THE DEAD The gripping stories of faith, flames and martyrdom that led to the Bible's translation into English. Wednesday at 8 p.m. on PBS-HD.

Some of the most famous words ever written are found in the most widely read book in history: the Bible in English. This film travels back in time to one of the most turbulent periods in history - the Reformation - to tell the extraordinary story of a group of men who set out on what they believed to be a divinely inspired mission: to bring the Scriptures to people in their own language for the first time. It is the story of kings and popes, spies and secret missions, faith and flames.
