Leslie Marmon Silko grew up on the Laguna Pueblo Reservation. She has won various awards for her writing, such as the Pushcart Prize for Poetry, a MacArthur Fellowship, and the "Living Cultural Treasure" Award from the New Mexico Endowment for the Humanities. Though she has published many works, she is probably best known for her novels “Ceremony”, “Almanac for the Dead”, and “Garden in the Dunes”. Her short story, "Lullaby" made her the youngest writer to be included in The Norton Anthology of Women's Literature.
