The brain is very complicated object and has many different parts that work together. In this segment of The Thinking Machine see how breakthroughs in technology are helping researchers unravel some of the mysteries of the brain and how these parts interact.

A Tucson based company, Cord Blood Registry, talks about promising evidence that blood drained from the umbilical cord could be instrumental in restoring damaged areas in the body. In a one of kind program at Tucson Medical Center, moms with high risk pregnancies for Cerebral Palsy can participate in a national clinical trial.

Segment 4: Canine Genome
Researchers are studying the canine genome to help understand genetic drivers behind neurological disease. With the canine genome, scientists can see more generations of genome in a much quicker time, resulting in a great deal of potential in fighting devastating genetic diseases, as well as making advances in dog medicine.
