The 1934 classic The Thin Man stars William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles, a couple who delight the audience with their bantering and witty conversation, while solving crimes with the help of their Wire-Haired Fox Terrier, Asta.

The film is set in Prohibition-era New York City. Powell’s character, Nick Charles, is a retired detective and he and wife Nora, played by Myrna Loy, are attempting to settle down, when Nick is pulled back into service by a friend's disappearance and possible involvement in a murder.

During the investigation, Nick and Nora come in contact with an interesting array of policeman and lowlifes. The murderer is finally revealed in a classic dinner-party scene that features all of the suspects.

The Thin Man, Saturday, September 24 at 9 p.m. on PBS-HD.
