The Catalina Highway reopened at noon Monday after being closed overnight by a wildfire. The blaze dubbed the "Molino Fire" was reported Sunday afternoon, near Molino Canyon.
Brandalyn Vonk, public information officer for the firefighting effort, says the cause of the fire is officially undetermined, but it's not considered to be natural. "We have a fire investigator that will conduct an investigation for the origin and cause. As of right now it's going to remain under investigation as a human cause," she said.
Monday afternoon the fire was reported to be roughly 400 acres, and 25 percent contained. While the Mount Lemmon highway has been reopened, the US Forest Service is asking drivers to take it slow and turn on their headlights because of smoke in the area.
