The comedy opens with Inspector Clouseau being called to the country home of a Paris plutocrat, to investigate the murder of his Spanish chauffeur. During the investigation, it is discovered that the chauffeur had been having an affair with the maid, Maria Gambrelli. Although all the evidence points to Gambrelli as the killer, Clouseau refuses to admit she is guilty because he has fallen in love with her. In order for the real culprits to keep the truth hidden from Clouseau's boss, Commissioner Charles Dreyfus, they must commit more murders. With each new murder, Maria appears to be guilty and is arrested, and each time Clouseau sets her free.

Clouseau continues to bungle the case, but somehow manages to end up a hero.

Saturday at 9 p.m. on PBS-HD.
