This year, the non-profit Sonoran Institute will celebrate two decades devoted to conserving the Sonoran Desert region's water resources.

Most recently, the institute has completed reports on the health of the Santa Cruz River.

"We've done these reports for three years now, and we're finding that the Santa Cruz River is improving," says Sonoran Institute Executive Director Luther Propst. "It's great news and a reason for hope."

The institute is also currently working on a project in the Colorado River Delta, trying to restore the flows of water to the estuary, says Propst in an Arizona Illustrated interview.

Tony Paniagua speaks to Luther Propst, Executive Director of the Sonoran Institute about the organization, its history and mission, and new developments such as a recent move to downtown Tucson.\\u000D\\u000A
