Author, pianist, and musicologist Dr. Janne E. Irvine, born with limited vision, has written the story of how she learned to make sense of the blurry world around her.

Janne E. Irvine's vision was damaged shortly after her premature birth and has slowly grown worse over time. The support of parents who encouraged her to thrive and endless curiosity about people, nature and music helped her overcome her eyesight issues.

Her first book, Making Friends with Other Trees and Flowers, A Story of Low Vision and High Expectations, has been published as a memoir telling how she used her other senses and her vivid imagination to help make sense of the blurry world around her.

Irvine will meet her readers and sign her book on Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Bookmans Grant and Campbell location.
