LIVE: State of the State

Join us for live coverage of Governor Janet Napolitano's 2009 "State of the State" address today at approximately 1 p.m. This is expected to be the governor's final State of the State address.

Napolitano, a Democrat, is expected to leave office within a couple of weeks, as she heads to Washington D.C. to become Homeland Security Secretary, pending confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Republican Secretary of State Jan Brewer would be her successor.

The Governor’s address will be broadcast live on KUAT6 and the UA Channel at approximately 1:00 p.m. Live audio coverage will be provided on KUAZ, 89.1 FM/1550AM and you can also watch live streaming on our website.

Napolitano addresses state lawmakers who will be wrestling with a huge budget deficit, expected to top $1.6 billion this fiscal year. Lawmakers also need to pass a budget for the next fiscal year, which begins July 1.

Governor Napolitano’s remarks will be posted on her website once she begins delivering her speech to the Arizona Legislature.
