Tucson's business relationship with Mexico seems obvious, yet it is even more important as people south of the border gain buying power, says the mayor's business advocate.
"Our relationship with Mexico is key," says Maricela Solis, who works on business development issues for Mayor Jonathan Rothschild. "It's so important that businesses are looking to diversify their client, Mexico is an obvious choice. If businesses have not thought about Mexico, now is the time."
Solis says Tucson businesses need to understand the advantage they have because of the city's proximity to Mexico. She says many cities across the country are envious of Tucson's advantage in that regard.
Solis says Tucson businesses should participate in a May 31 Arizona Commerce Authority workshop for information about how to open business doors in Mexico.
The workshop will be at the Microbusiness Advancement Center, 330 N. Commerce Park Loop, Suite. 160. Solis suggests interested businesspeople call the center at 520 620-1241 for more information.
