LA Opera on Air broadcasts return to Classical 90.5 at noon this Saturday, July 7th, with a performance of Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The libretto was written by Konstantin Shilovsky and the composer along with his brother Modest, and is based on the novel in verse by Alexander Pushkin.. The performance will run approximately three hours and thirty minutes and will be sung in Russian. James Conlon conducts.
Young and impassioned, Tatiana hastily writes a love letter to the brooding aristocrat Onegin. She thereby unwittingly sets off an unstoppable series of events, leaving Onegin forever regretting the love he so casually spurned.
