The LA Opera on Air broadcasts continue on Classical 90.5 at noon this Saturday, July 21, with a performance of Romeo et Juliette by Charles Gounod. the libretto is by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré, based on The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. The performance will be sung in French and will run approximately three hours and fifteen minutes. Plácido Domingo, renowned vocalist and General Director of LA Opera, conducts.

Gounod's operatic version of the Bard of Avon's tale of star crossed lovers is set in five acts and is particularly notable for its series of love duets and the waltz song "Je veux vivre," sung by Juliette.
