Pima County property owners will pay the lowest county tax levy in five years, after the Board of Supervisors approved the rate on Monday.

The county's rate was set at $3.41 per $100 of assessed valuation, the same as last fiscal year's rate, according to a county press release. The vote was 401, with Republican Ray Carroll voting against it.

The release said county property taxes will be lower next fiscal year by more than $12 million.

β€œIn light of the economic recovery, it is prudent policy to maintain a consistent tax rate,” County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry said in the press release. β€œAnd while we remain committed to continuing to work on efficiencies, we are pleased that we are also able to maintain a high level of service to our local residents.”
