Pima County property owners will pay the lowest county tax levy in five years, after the Board of Supervisors approved the rate on Monday.

The county's rate was set at $3.41 per $100 of assessed valuation, the same as last fiscal year's rate, according to a county press release. The vote was 401, with Republican Ray Carroll voting against it.

The release said county property taxes will be lower next fiscal year by more than $12 million.

“In light of the economic recovery, it is prudent policy to maintain a consistent tax rate,” County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry said in the press release. “And while we remain committed to continuing to work on efficiencies, we are pleased that we are also able to maintain a high level of service to our local residents.”
