President Barack Obama will address the nation in a prime-time speech on the threat posed by the Islamic State, operating out of Iraq and Syria. The president will lay out the risk the group poses to the U.S. and the strategy he’s put together to “degrade and destroy” the group. But he will reassert that there will be no troops on the ground and no timeline for how long it might take.

Following the address on PBS, NewsHour political analysts Mark Shields and David Brooks will discuss the president’s remarks.

Coverage of the speech begins at 6 pm on PBS Newshour and NPR 89.1.
