Woman on the Move

Arizona Public Media congratulates radio news contributing producer Laura Markowitz for her recognition as an honoree of Tucson YWCA's 'Women on the Move' for 2010.

Markowitz was chosen as one of 12 women honored for the 2010 YWCA Women on The Move award. She was selected from a pool of 53 nominees.

Laura joined public radio in Southern Arizona after 22 years as a magazine writer and editor. Her cover stories have appeared in Utne, Glamour, Ms., Mademoiselle, Tricycle, Self and other national publications. Laura grew up in New York, and her B.A. in comparative religion is from Swarthmore College. She spent a year traveling in Asia, the Middle East and Europe on a fellowship from the Thomas J. Watson Foundation, investigating the lives of women in traditional religions. She's a regular contributor to Arizona Spotlight from Arizona Public Media. Congrats Laura!
