Cable TV provider Comcast will open a call center in Tucson and hire 1,125 people by this fall, the company announced Thursday.
The center will be at an unspecified location. A 100,000 square-foot facility is being renovated for it, a press release said.
The operation will have a total payroll of $35 million, meaning the jobs will average $31,100 a year.
Comcast officials joined city and state elected leaders and economic development officials in Phoenix to make the announcement at the state Capitol Thursday morning.
Comcast has begun advertising and posting positions online.
Tucson is home to numerous call centers, with employment in the tens of thousands in various parts of the city, including at the University of Arizona's technology park near Vail.
