The ninth annual community-wide “Bag-A-Thon” food drive aims to collect 100,000 pounds of food for Southern Arizonans in need, with the goal of helping 4,000 people, officials of the Interfaith Community Services say.
“This food drive ... helps families meet this very basic and essential survival need and otherwise many of the people who turn to us would not have food to feed their families,” said Deborah Carr, a spokeswoman for Interfaith Community Services, which is conducting the drive.
Food is being collected now through month’s end at offices of Edward Jones, a financial advising business that is a co-sponsor. The drive will wrap up at Canyon Del Oro Baptist Church Nov. 7 in Oro Valley.
