A Pima County grand jury Wednesday indicted University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Dean Jessie Lyle Bootman on charges of sexual assault, sexual abuse and aggravated assault.
Listen:
The UA administration issued a statement saying Bootman had been placed on leave and his administrative duties were suspended. The statement said officials "do not believe the alleged events are connected to the university."
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release that the assault took place in Bootman’s home. The victim, an adult female, sustained injuries that indicated sexual misconduct, the release said.
Detectives searched Bootman’s residence and found "incriminating evidence."
Bootman pleaded not guilty to all charges and will appear in court again next month
The 65-year-old UA graduate has served as dean of the College of Pharmacy since 1987.
