Ten clubs from Major League Soccer will take part in preseason games in Tucson in February.

The league is increasing the number of preseason games in Tucson this year, including seven "friendlies," exhibition matches between the clubs, and another 14 matches as part of this year's Desert Diamond Cup.

“21 of the 48 preseason that are being played officially are being played in Tucson," said Jon Pearlman, general manager for event host FC Tucson.

"We are the western hub of preseason here, and we have the most teams and the most games of anywhere in the entire country.”

The first games get underway Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at Kino Sports Complex, 2500 E. Ajo Way.

The Desert Diamond Cup kicks off February 17.

Tucson's tourism bureau, Visit Tucson, estimates economic impact from preseason professional soccer at $1.17 million.

Schedule and tickets for the games are available here.
