Lena Horne: In Her Own Voice Groundbreaking singer and actress Lena Horne died May 9 at the age of 92. AMERICAN MASTERS honors her life by offering a special presentation of this 1996 program on PBS-World.

Lena Horne: In Her Own Voice tells the story of her journey to reluctant stardom. In addition to exclusive interviews with Horne and her daughter, the documentary, directed by Susan Lacy, includes interviews with Ossie Davis, Alan King, Liz Smith and others who worked with the performer. Clips from signature movies like Stormy Weather and MGM films of the 1940s are interwoven with her early TV appearances to accentuate her life story.
