The UA College of Science Lecture Series present, "Rethinking Reality"
Dr. Feryal Ozel is the second presenter in this year's UA Science Lecture Series. Dr. Ozel's research focuses on questions that arise in many extreme environments present in the universe. She studies the surfaces of neutron stars and what we can learn about their interiors by observing the surfaces. Another area of her expertise is in the subject of black holes. Ozel studies how the black holes affect their environment, what the telltale signs of black holes are, and how gravity distorts the properties of space and time around them. Ozel is especially interested in the super massive black hole in our own Galaxy, which is 30-thousand light years from us.
