If you still have your ballot for next Tuesday’s Tucson sales tax election, don’t mail it, because it may not arrive on time to be counted, city officials warned this week.
If you want to vote on the proposal to raise the sales tax in Tucson, your ballot has to get to election officials by 7 p.m. Tuesday. The election is conducted entirely by mail this year, but if you haven’t mailed your ballot yet, it might not arrive in time to be counted.
Voters will decide whether to raise the city sales tax by a half-cent to pay for police and fire equipment, and road work for the next five years. The city estimates the tax increase would raise about $50 million year, and cost an average of $3 per person, per month.
The city clerk’s office says ballots can be dropped off at one of seven sites around the city on Tuesday:
