The National Christmas Tree Lighting 2010

This national holiday tradition will feature an all-star lineup of performers to help usher in the holiday season in our nation’s capital. Monday at 9 p.m. on PBS-HD.

The Lighting of the National Christmas Tree signals the start of the holiday season across the country. Taped at President's Park in Washington, DC., the 60-minute special includes appearances and performances by some of the most recognizable names in entertainment, with the evening's festivities capped off with the ceremonial lighting of the National Christmas Tree.

The event is hosted by hip hop artist and actor Common. The talented lineup of performers include, blues legend B.B. King, singer-songwriter and pianist Sara Bareilles, the band Maroon 5, ten year-old “America’s Got Talent” soprano prodigy Jackie Evancho, from rock group My Morning Jacket singer-songwriter Jim James, singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, Miss America Caressa Cameron, and Washington D.C.’s own Duke Ellington School of the Arts choir. And of course, the night would not be complete without a special appearance by Santa.
