MEXICO CITY — This weekend, Secretary of State Michael Pompeo will travel to four Latin American countries, including Mexico, where immigration and trade top the agenda.
The secretary of state is expected to arrive on Sunday in Mexico City. He will meet with Secretary of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Ebrard to continue conversations on the free-trade agreement and immigration.
This meeting will happen just as the agreement between Mexico and the U.S. to reduce Central American migration reaches the 45-day trial period established by the Mexican government.
That same day, Pompeo will travel to El Salvador to discuss migration and economic development with President Nayib Bukele.
Pompeo’s tour will include Argentina on Friday and Ecuador on Saturday, where he plans to discuss democracy, economic prosperity and security.
