State of the Ocean’s Animals

Matt Damon hosts television’s only continuing science and nature series focusing on the environment. Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. on KUAT6 and HD.

Beneath the surface was an unspoiled universe of natural beauty, a living tapestry of biological diversity, a landscape overflowing with the promise of an inexhaustible resource. But contrary to what we always believed, the abundance of ocean animals is in reality, an environmental illusion.

"The State of the Ocean's Animals" features case studies in the Pacific Northwest (salmon, sea otters, orcas), New England (coastal fisheries and cod), Brittany (coastal fisheries), Portugal (the history of cod extinction), Florida (sea level rise and its effect on turtles), the Antarctic (penguins), China and Vietnam (fish farms), the Caribbean (coral reefs) and Africa (whales and coastal fisheries).
