Ballots counted in Arizona on Wednesday widened the lead of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs over Republican candidate Kari Lake to about 13 thousand votes. Earlier in the day Lake had closed to within a few thousand votes.

In the race for U.S. Senate, Democrat Mark Kelly continued to maintain a lead over Republican challenger Blake Masters.

The top of the ticket is not the only place that is still too close to call.

The races for Attorney General and Superintendent of Public Instruction are still close enough that a recount could be possible.

Arizona law requires a mandatory recount for any race where the candidates are within .05% when counting is complete.

In the sixth Congressional District, Republican Juan Ciscomani opened up his lead on Wednesday to close to eight thousand votes.

In Pima County, election officials said they expect to continue counting ballots turned in on Election Day into next week.
