Parent Provided Care

Arizona Parents of children with disabilities receive funding and certified training to be Direct Care Workers for their own minor children.

In 2020 the State of Arizona issued a temporary flexibility allowing for parents of minor children with disabilities to receive certified training to be Direct Care Workers for their own children. Then in 2021, AHCCCS included funds and expanded the support beyond the COVID-19 flexibility window.

Parents from Raising Voices Coalition are expressing how this program has helped solve previous issues like high Direct Care Worker turnover, housing insecurity, and financial instability which has long plagued families who are caring for their disabled children.
