UnidosUS, the nation's largest Latino nonprofit advocacy organization, found that concerns over immigration among Latino voters in Arizona, Nevada and Pennsylvania was right behind the top concerns over inflation and the cost of living.
David Mermin, who helped conduct the poll, says the top issue among respondents is creating a path to citizenship for long term undocumented immigrants, including Dreamers, those brought to the U.S. as children.
“That solution, long term, for the millions and millions of immigrants who are living, working in this country,” he said. “They are Americans; they're contributing, participating in our society, and yet do not have the security of long-term citizenship in this country, and that is very much on the minds of Latino voters, both native born and immigrant.”
He also says Arizona poll respondents had a slight preference for Trump over Biden on the question of immigration. The other top issues among respondents were cracking down on smugglers at the border and increasing funding for border security.
