The number of votes that went Republican in 2024 in the presidential race increased in Arizona’s two counties where more than half the population are Hispanic or Latino, which was first reported by Garrett Archer with ABC15.
Based on a partial tally, the Republican presidential ticket is winning in Yuma County by nearly 24 percentage points more than in 2020.
And in Santa Cruz County, the Democratic presidential ticket is leading, by about 17 percentage points less than 2020.
While in the state’s two most populous counties, where the populations are roughly a-third Hispanic or Latino, the disparity between this presidential race and last is not looking as wide.
In Maricopa County, the Republican ticket is winning by about 2 percentage points, and in 2020 it lost by about 3. While in Pima County the Democratic ticket won by about 1 percentage point more in 2020.
