Arts Education Program Works to Support Common Core Curriculum

Educators say students benefit from arts integration programs; Opening Minds through the Arts has brought them to TUSD classrooms.

Opening Minds through the Arts is a local program that uses art to teach traditional subjects - reading, math and science.

Inspired by ongoing research into connections between brain development and music, the Tucson Unified School District program is considered a leader in a national movement to integrate arts education with core curriculum.

Over the last school year, OMA brought visual arts, drama, dance, and music to more than 18,000 students in the Tucson’s largest school district.
