Cochise and Pima counties have finished the machine recount of more than 200,000 ballots in the tight race between Democratic U.S. Rep. Ron Barber and Republican Martha McSally.
The hand count of Pima County CD2 ballots to verify accuracy of the machine count is scheduled for Monday. Another will take place in Cochise County this Friday.
The final results will be released after a judge certifies the recount next week.
McSally had a lead of 161 votes over Barber, which is what triggered the recount, according to state law.
Despite still facing a final outcome, McSally was appointed to the U.S. House Armed Forces Committee earlier this week. Incumbent Barber is currently a member of the same committee.
