The Governor got the message and Friday came to Tucson to meet with the four sheriffs to lobby for their support of the Border Drug Strike Force.
"We’re going to bump heads and that’s understandable and that’s OK," Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said. "It’s a matter of policy and understanding and really it comes down to communications.”
Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot added that it is also comes down to respect for their counties and an acknowledgement that the sheriffs are elected officials too.
"He listened more than he talked," said Wilmot. "There was good conversation. There was good dialogue, there’s a good understanding that the sheriffs of each county are pretty much the voice of the people."
While the border sheriffs and the Governor are not on the same page on all issues, there is now an open line of communication.
