The University of Arizona has partnered with major companies to expand online educational access for working adults.

Geico, Caterpillar Inc. and Salt River Project have signed an agreement with UA Online.

The partnerships come as a part of the university’s strategic plan to help grow the number of degrees and certificates for graduates in Arizona.

Kara Aquilana Forney, UA Online director of corporate initiatives, said the program gives people the opportunity to get a degree that they never thought possible.

“These partnerships really send a strong signal that the university is very committed to the long-term health of Tucson and Arizona’s workforce.”

Ten students are enrolled in the test program, which will soon open registration for more students.

Staff members work to ensure students feel the university connection even while being online, said Melissa Vito, senior vice president for student affairs.

“They are all supported and serviced by staff who work here at the UA”

UA Online plans to create several more partnerships over the next six months.
