Pilots and crew are constantly training at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Part of that training includes an ongoing program called SERE or Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape.
While with the Air Force in Vietnam Jason Stone flew helicopter rescue missions and had some first hand experiences with “The Razorbacks”, a 120th Army gunship unit.
The last helicopter to leave Vietnam ferried the Marine guards at the US Embassy in Saigon to safety. That chopper is sitting quietly at the military “Boneyard” at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson.
